About the Episode
Welcome everyone to another Friday and another new episode of Cello Chat. This week I sit down with Yuriy Leonovich. Born in Kyiv, Ukraine, cellist Yuriy Leonovich immigrated to the United States with his family. He studied under cellists Stephen Geber and Robert DeMaine, as well as composer James Hartway, and earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music. A recipient of the Hope and Stanley Adelstein Prize for Excellence in Composition and Performance, Leonovich wrote his DMA research document on Gaspar Cassadó's cello concertos, reflecting his vision of expanding the standard cello repertoire.
