I am delighted this week to meet with the brilliant Dr. Josh Albrecht regarding our experiment on intonation we conducted with his fabulous team at the Kent State Music Cognition Lab.
Meet the Guest
Dr. Albrecht received a BM from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater in Music History and Theory, MM from the University of Texas - Austin in Music Theory with an emphasis in Composition, and PhD from the Ohio State University in Music Theory and Cognitive and Systematic Musicology. Dr. Albrecht served as Assistant Professor of Music Theory at Kent State University since 2019, and previously at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. A prolific researcher, presenter and editor, Dr. Albrecht has published several peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, is an experienced conference presenter with over 50 conference presentations in the last decade, and has significantly invested in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in conducting original research. His research focuses on empirical musicology, or combining traditional musicological methods with scientific and empirical methodologies. He regularly conducts music cognition experiments and is also recognized for his work in digital humanities and computational musicology. At Kent State, he founded and led the Interdisciplinary Music Cognition Lab.
