About the event

Franz Schubert’s “Trout” Quintet has earned a place as one of the most beloved chamber music compositions. It derives its name from the fact that its fourth movement is a set of variations based on Schubert’s popular art song “Die Forelle” (The Trout). In this concert, String faculty members Leanne Kelso, Benjamin Whitcomb, and Brad Townsend will be joined by piano professor Diana Shapiro and UWW alum Rena Ayala to perform this delightful, distinctive, and memorable work. In addition, Professor Rachel Wood will perform “Die Forelle” at the start of the program so audiences can directly hear the connection between the two works. UW-Whitewater Department of Music events are free for UW-Whitewater students with their HawkCard. Students enrolled in World of the Arts should log in and reserve a ticket using the WOTA option. All other students do not need to purchase a ticket or reserve one in advance. Students are admitted on a first-come, first-served basis and as space allows.
