About the event
Each participating orchestra will enjoy a 50-minute on-stage clinic with one of UW‑Whitewater’s expert string clinicians. In addition to performing, students will listen and learn during a 45-minute observation of another ensemble’s clinic. Every student musician will also take part in a 50-minute group technique class, led by our distinguished UW‑Whitewater studio faculty.
Festival Goals
The UW‑Whitewater Orchestra Festival is thoughtfully designed to meet the educational needs of school orchestras. Directors may choose to perform pieces their ensembles are currently preparing for future concerts—no need for a complete or polished program. Alternatively, ensembles are welcome to play selections from the WSMA String Orchestra List to fulfill WSMA large group requirements.
