Conversations and contrast
Music as conversation.
It was a pleasure performing alongside violinist Leanne Kelso and pianist Diana Shapiro at UW Whitewater’s Light Recital Hall earlier this month.
Our program brought together two wonderfully contrasting works: Dvořák’s Dumky Trio and Paul Schoenfield’s Café Music for Piano Trio. From reflective folk inspired melodies to the energy of jazz and ragtime, the concert explored just how much three instruments can say to one another.
Thank you to the Royal Purple for capturing the performance and the idea of music as a conversation, complete with moments of agreement, contrast, and everything in between.
